Economical Alternative for Scroll Chuck Wrench
To mount/release a NOVA scroll chuck from lathe spindle, you need a 1-1/2″ crescent wrench. These wrenches are expensive if you purchase one from woodworking/woodturning stores. I found a cheaper alternative… in an automotive section of a discount store.
One of standard sizes for trailer hitch wrenches is 1-1/2″ and you can buy it for less than $10. Now, they often come in double box wrench as shown. So, in order for you to use it for mounting/releasing a lathe chuck from a lathe, you need to grind off the tip of the wrench to make it work for the lathe.
