Dresser

I built a 5-drawer dresser out of dark walnut and 3/4″ red oak plywood (stained white). Finishing was done with homemade wipe-on polyurethane. About 4 coats for the dresser and drawers and about 8 for the top.

Carcass is 3/4″ plywood and interior frame (repurposed pine) is held in place by pocket holes. 1/4″ plywood was used on the back and to seal the bottom. The frame and legs are glued and brad-nailed, and I routed chamfers on the outer edges of the frame to add some details.

Drawer joinery was done with a lock miter bit and 1/2″ plywood. I used maple and UHD plastic tape as the rails for the drawers

Top is 5 pieces of walnut that were joined with biscuits and glue. The top did cup on me despite I alternated the grains of these boards. I forced flat the top with clamps and time. The top was attached to the carcass with screws. I route a chamfer around all 4 edges.
