Meeting Minutes – February 5, 2022

Meeting Location: Brian Staus’s Shop, 9 West Kori Lane, Waggaman, LA. 70094

  • Collection of dues (Rick Albrecht) and selling of shirts and caps (Richard Robles)

Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance – Harold Choate

Welcome and Introduction of Guests– The May meeting will be at Tommy Treuil’s saw mill. It’s near Grosse Tete in the middle of nowhere. Tommy invited us to bring any pieces of wood we want to have sawed up to the meeting.

Officer Reports:

  • Vice-President – George Campagna- Next meeting is at West Baton Rouge Museum. The Skill Topic will be Part 4 of the Small Shop Tours. Please note the meeting schedule for 2022. There have been some changes. Hopefully the Swamp Festival will take place this year in October.
  • Secretary – Harold Choate- 19 people attended the January meeting. We don’t have an exact count on members yet because people are still paying dues. There were 41 people on the role at the last count.
  • Treasurer – Rick Albrecht- Contact Rick for details.
  • Webmaster – Geoff Michelli- I’m still learning all the stuff. I’m trying to schedule a meeting with Kesh. Let me know if you have any ideas for the meeting.
  • Community Service – Lee Owens- The Volunteer of America is repurposing a house for use by women with Down’s syndrome. They would like to have a dining room table that seats 12 people. Please sign up if you want to work on it.
  • Education Outreach – Open

New and Ongoing Club Business

  • Dues- Please pay your club dues. We will hold this open through March then close it. You can mail the dues in if you can’t make payment at one of the meetings.

Members Questions/Concerns– Thanks to Brian Fitzgerald for his participation and service. Best wishes on his move to Texas.

Safety Topic– Don’t get in a hurry and take short cuts on safety. Be sure to wear safety glasses.

I retired from a career in industrial sales in 2000. One of the first things I did after retiring was to build a raised panel corner desk using oak.
