[brwc_user id=”3″] promoted the use of featherboards. Featherboards help to hold work piece firmly against stationary tools such as table saws and router tables. They not only prevent kickbacks but also yield in more precise cuts.Skill Topic:
[brwc_user id=”83″] presented topics in furniture design. Three topics were covered: general furniture design steps, hands-on activities, and the use of integer ratios. The hands-on activity entailed the attendees to explore different proportions for a simple bedside table, utilizing 2 prototype techniques: scale models and use of mirrors to reduce a number of parts in the prototypes. Other prototype technique presented was to use the blue tape to act as negative space to experiment different tapering dimensions for the legs. Finally, the excerpts from By Hands & Eyes by G. Walker and J. Tolpin were shown to illustrate the use of simple integer ratios to work proportions in furniture design.
