Shop-Made Router Sled

For my last project, I needed to route out a large section at a even depth, so it finally made me make a sled to accomplish this task.
The base is made from 3/4″ luan plywood. I first traced the holes (one for the bit and 3 more for the screws) of the plastic router base onto the base plywood. Then, I drilled the properly-sized holes at the traced positions.
It is important to countersink the mounting screws on the back of the sled so that the sled sit flat on a workpiece,

Then I attached scrap plywood strips to the perimeter of the base to help the 3/8″ luan plywood flat.

For the handles, I repurposed the ends of one of the legs I turned for highchair that was a mistake
This completes the build. I finished finished the sled with a few coats of oil and polyurethane sanded to 400 grit coat of wax and it slides nice. It’s not very fancy but built totally from scraps and a few screws this will definitely serve the purpose, maybe in the future make one with about 1/4″ Plexiglas.
